Update Mobile Number inside IRCTC Next generation Website
So in the earlier tutorial, we
told how important it is to have your mobile number properly updated because
once you book the ticket through IRCTC next generation website, the train
ticket & PNR Status details are sent to you via SMS. So if you while
traveling, produce this SMS to the ticket collector, it sounds as good as a
physical print. You don’t need to carry that but definitely it’s very important
that you have the valid identity proof which may be the Passport or a Pan Cards
or a Voter Card or a Driving license or may be a Central State or Public Sector
Identity card or a College Identity card which has a photo attached to it. So
those all are accepted forms of Identity proofs.
But in this tutorial, more of less
we are just going to discuss, how to update your mobile number. You know some
times you may have some mobile number inside IRCTC but over course of time, you
mobile get stolen or you want to change your operator or the mobile number for
some strange reasons and you decide to update this in IRCTC login and because
every time you do a ticket, every time you have to change the mobile number to
update to you new mobile number. So how to update the mobile number in such a
way that every time you book a ticket you do not have to do that. It can be
done by updating your profile details which we will see how to do article.
So just first put in your login
details, You can see on the left hand side of this user interface, you have
this Plan My Travel, Quick Book and Mumbai Season Ticket, My Transactions, User
Profile. So just click on User Profile, that is small +/- sign, + Indicates
that it will expand the tab full expand and here you can see you have options
for Update Profile, Change Password, Master list of Passengers, Passenger
Travel List, you just click on update profile. Here you need to enter your
password again so click on go after do that. So, all your details are listed out,
you can check here and you can see the mobile number, this is very important. If
you have a new mobile which has different number of may be you have changed
your number, just go and update this field and that’s pretty much it and you
can just click on update button and you know the details will be updated. Put your
right mobile number.
It will be validating the codes and everything, so it searches
for the Pin Code and validate, it takes a little while to make this happen,
when the pin code has been validated and the state has automatically appeared, You
will just select the City/District and everything remains the same and click on
, you can see this red ribbon which states that the profile has been
successfully updated.
So this is how you can update your
details and now if you go and plan your by filling in details and booking a
ticket or the ticket is send to the proper mobile number, the details which are
inside your updated profile. I hope this has helped you people who are
wondering on how to update their basic personal details inside IRTCT website.
So it always good that you keep your profile most recently update with the most
recent mobile numbers and address and everything. So when ever in future you
want to change it or want certain changes you can always do that.

Check IRCTC PNR status in Indian railways
Today we will be doing something
which affects every Indian and this is checking your IRCTC PNR Status of rail
ticket online. Well if you have booked the ticket then it’s very important to
you to check your PNR status online in case of waiting list or something. When
you book a train ticket, often it doesn’t come in the confirm category, like
sometimes you may get waiting list, RAC Stuff like that RAC stand for
Reservation against Cancellation, it obviously a dream value to want reserved
tickets but this not always the case. So typically what you do is keep checking
your status. So in case you have booked the tickets few months back, keep
checking status, I think you are not allowed to book the tickets few months
back but any ways what ever will the time be, you want to check the status and
how do you do that. So lets go for some live example, so assume that you have
an Indian Railways train ticket, Just copy the PNR Number and basically go to the
site indianrail.gov.in, put it on the PNR Number, Put in this CAPTCHA image
what you see here, click on status, There you go. We get the status of our
ticket. Well you are really lucky if you get a confirmed ticket with IRCTC. People
who may have booked tickets under waiting list and for them to see this getting
confirmed, well trust me it means lot of them.
What is IRCTC PNR Status ??
This is “Personal Name Record”. It’s
a 10 digit unique identification code for your train ticket. As Indian railways
has passed its new regulations, now you just need to have your PNR Number with
you and don’t need any printed physical ticket at all. It’s a good initiative
by the GOVT of India and we welcome this.
So if this tutorial helps, please
subscribe and send your queries. I will be happy to reply to your queries. And
I guess the series of the tutorial is more or less for the Indian citizens, Voter
Registration, Filing of ITR, and Booking of Tickets, Checking your Ticket
Status, doing all this so that ordinary citizen’s ordinary residents get
benefit of these processes. In case that makes sense, look forward to your love
and appreciations.
How to Cancel IRCTC Ticket Online
How you can you cancel you IRCTC
Tickets which has been booked earlier. If you have your own IRCTC next generation website login
information, just enter the username or else click Register to log in to your
account. After logging in, at the left side you can see my transactions link,
expand it and you can see cancel e-ticket or refund button is there, click it.
It will ask you to enter your password again, enter your IRCTC login password and
click on go. It will list all the e-tickets which has been booked earlier,
click on the particular e-ticket which you want to cancel, so the particular
page will show you the number of peoples which are all booked for that
particular ticket. If you want to cancel all the people, select all the
peoples, or else if you want to cancel a particular person click on the
particular person that you want to cancel from that particular ticket. Click
cancel and confirm it. That’s it.
The ticket has been cancelled. Now
the current status has been changed to CAN/MOD which means the ticket has been
cancelled for that particular person. These are all the peoples which are
currently presented in this ticket, so in order to check the status of the
cancelled ticket, you can click again on cancel e-ticket/refund button and
enter your password again, click on go. It will again list the available
tickets. The IRCTC cancellation date and status has been shown here, the particular
person has been cancelled. If you click on cancel e-ticket, you can see a
confirmation dialog box, that’s it. It means the entire ticket will not be
cancelled but the particular person from that ticket will only be cancelled and
the amount which is to be refunded will available to your account to the
account which you have used for booking the ticket. Some charges will be
collected by the Indian Railways for the cancellation. You can see the cancelled
ticket history from IRCTC PNR Status by clicking on cancelled history and enter your password again
and click go, here you need to select the particular ticket form which you want
to see the cancelled status.
What is e-ticket & i-ticket in IRCTC
What is e-ticket, e-ticket is a
ticket that you get as a electronic ticket that you can take a print out of the
booked history and travel, i-ticket is a physical ticket, the ticket that you
actually get while you go and book it in the railway station, the physical
ticket you get. So e-ticket, you just book it, take a print and travel while
i-ticket is like you book it, prior to some days, you guess it is prior to 3
days you need to book so you booked physical ticket can reach to you through
the courier. you will always prefer an e-ticket, because you can just book it,
take a print and you can travel and also you can show your IRCTC PNR Status in your mobile. Remember always whenever you are booking an
e-ticket and traveling you must carry your identity proofs like Passport or a
Pan Card or a Voter Card or a Driving license and there are certain other
documents as well that can be used as a identity proof. Always carry that.
Book online ticket in IRCTC Next Generation website
Now it is very convenient to book
and track PNR status of railway ticket, you did not have to go to railway station and stands in along
queue, you can book a railway ticket by just sitting at home. So lets see the
step by step process, how to book a railway ticket using IRCTC Website?
So the first step is, open up a
browser and go to IRCTC link which is www.irctc.co.in
,in fill up your user name and your password then enter the captcha code shown
below this, Hit login to book the railway ticket and if you do not have the
username and password, please do signup and you can book a railway ticket after
that. Just remember that while signing up, you should provide all your valid
information so that your profile does not get de-activated after some time.
Now we are logged in to the
website to book the ticket, you will see the interface here, you have a booking
history, you have a print ticket here, you have a cancellation list here and there
are other facilities like if you cancel your ticket you should get a refund and
its status will be here, and for shubh yatra which is a new facility and this
is about the TDR.
So lets see how to book a ticket,
so here in the from list you need to type in the station name from where you
want to start your journey, lets say you want to travel from Bangalore to
Chennai, so what you will type is Bangalore, so once you type some words
actually it will give a suggestion that which station you want. You can see it
has been popped up the list, so now you want to select Bangalore City Junction
and from there I want to travel till Chennai, so you know the code of Chennai
which is MAS, so you just typed in and you can see that Chennai Central has
been come up with MAS Code, it is just a matter of time you will come to know that
what is the code of the station where you are traveling, so lets choose the
station, your from is Bangalore and to is Chennai.
Now you want to choose a date,
when you want to travel, lets say you want to travel on 25th of May
so you choose the date of 25th of May, now here you have option of
e-ticket and i-ticket,
We have prefer to book an e-ticket
so you have chosen e-ticket, so here comes the quota field, where you can
either choose General, Tatkal or Ladies, General is like any body can travel
and Tatkal is like you want to book a Tatkal ticket, now you can just book Tatkal
one day prior so for 25th you can book a Tatkal on 24th,
so on 24th morning you can try for a Tatkal for travel on the 25th
and this is for the ladies quota. So let’s take the general quota and click on
link find trains.
So here you will find the list of
the trains which is available from Bangalore to Chennai on the selected date,
you can see all the classes has been seen here, what is available in that train
and what is not available. For example lets say Shatabdi Express and Shatabdi
have 1st AC is available and Chair Car is available, only these two
classes are available, lets see the availability and book the ticket, lets
click what you want to travel in which class, if you want to travel in Chair
Car, click on this radio button you will get the trains details and availability,
the website is some times very slow because of more traffic, normally in the
morning and the evening time, so it will take some time to load up, just relax
for some time. Now you find that the train details is, this train goes from
Bangalore to Chennai Central and the date and the days when it runs and the
train number as well. So on this side you will find that what the availability
status in the train is, click on book, so once you click on the link it will
load up page where you need to fill the details. Now it gives you an option to
enter the name of the passenger who want to travel, enter your details, you can
choose your berth preference, then you can click on this consider for auto up
gradation, when you consider for auto up gradation you have clicked that means
if you are on a waiting list, then your auto up gradation might happen to a
higher class as well. Let’s see if you have booked a ticket in sleeper and
there are lot of seats which cancelled in the 3 tier AC, so you can get auto
upgraded to 3 tier AC itself at that will be of no cost. After this, you need
to fill the detail here, what ever text you can see here on the CAPTCHA. then
you can go down and can say go, just wait for some time, now your reservation
details have been come, the train name, the class you want to travel, date,
from station, to station, the train number, the boarding point and reservation
up to what under quota. And here also you can see what you have chosen, the
name of the person, the age and the berth preference, everything has been
chosen and here you can see how much fare you have to pay, the extra cost is 10
rupees which is a service charge so the total amount builds up including
service charge.
Now click on link Make a Payment, wait
for some time, so once the make a payment page comes up, you can see that you
can pay through Credit Card, through Net Banking, through Debit Cards, through
Cash Cards, through EMI options; there are multiple options through which you
can pay. For example of Net Banking, you will choose ICICI Bank, just choose it
and wait for some time, it will migrate to the payment page of ICICI Bank, so
you can enter your USER ID and Password and make a payment, once you make a
payment wait for some time, it will automatically redirect to the IRCTC webpage
and your tickets will be booked.
After your tickets have booked,
come to the home page, click on booking history, once you click on booking
history, it will ask you to re-enter you password, re-enter your password say
go, wait for some time, it will just load up, so now it will show the history
of tickets that you have booked, Enter your IRCTC PNR Status and which ever ticket you want to take a print,
click on that and then click on print E-ticket so that you can get the ticket
printed. Carry the ticket with you along with the ID Proof and that’s it.

IRCTC Reservation - Auto Fill Passenger List
Today I m discussing with you how
to make it faster using auto fill the passengers list while booking your IRCTC tickets, so this is a
feature provided by IRCTC next generation website itself, so you don’t have to install a plug-in or you
don’t have to use a software for it. This will save you time while booking your
tickets and this can make a difference between waiting list and RAC to a
confirmed ticket, the time that is getting saved especially when you are
booking Tatkal.
So you just need to log in to
irctc.co.in through your web browser. Feed your login details and as I told you
this is a feature provided by Indian Railways itself right now and you
should be familiar with this interface.
Go to your user profile, click on
user profile and you have an option called Master List of Passengers. you get
these options like Master List of Passenger where you can create a Master List
of passenger with a maximum of 6 names, you can add pretty much you family
members, your self, your wife or spouse, your father mother brothers anybody. Click
on add button, add your name and date of birth, so this date of birth will
determine your age when you auto filling your passengers list when ever you are
booking a ticket, Fill the sex and birth preference of course lower, food
preference if you are book through Rajdhani or Shatabdi, if you are a senior
citizen yet you have to manually fill in this data, Click on Add, your personal
name comes in here, so most likely we are going to booking tickets for
ourselves and not for somebody else, so
we can just fill in our personal names, family members names here.
You can make up to 6 entries and
let me explain how we can use this while booking your tickets. Hit on plan my
travel, fill in from with your source & destination, choose a date which has
to be within 2 months away so that tickets are going to be available.
So this is the booking interface,
select your desired Class here, if it is available 2 months away click on book
now, so when you click on book now, you can see there this is the next page
that you get when you booking your tickets, so here you have your travel list,
select passengers from your master list, so click on it, this will use your
profile data which ever family members you have entered in, so this will give
you the same data, once you click on it, it will open a pop ups, if you want to
enter every body here, you can just select on this all and append or add
passengers, append means if you made already any more data and you have some
other third person coming in, you have to fill in manually and after that when you
want to add these two entries you can select append other wise you just click
on both and add passenger.
If you want to choose just your
self only, if you are alone traveling then just click on your name alone and
click on add passenger, but in this dummy case click on all and click on add
passenger here, as you can see it just automatically fill out the data, the
name, age, female; as I said the age will be picked as per your date of birth
and preference on berth and senior citizen is not selected because you did not
put in your self as a senior citizen. Once this can fill out, you can just
directly move on to next step on to making the payment online for the ticket
booking. So this is an easy way, this is the feature that is provided by IRCTC
itself so you need not worry about using software or using plug-ins like most
of that people suggest to save time with the auto filling the passengers name
list.
