How to find train list between stations using IRCTC New Generation website

IRCTC Train

Hello friends, in this tutorial we will be teaching on how to see railway time table and perhaps a little bit, how to books ticket online, rail tickets. In the last tutorial we saw on how to create a user account inside IRCTC, so people who are just seen this tutorial I advice that they check out my other tutorial in this website which I have named IRCTC suitably because I am making tutorials for the same.

So first and for most, we need to go to IRCTC website. So there are two ways of going, either you can go to Google and type in the search box IRCTC and you can see various results listed out and the first one which has the URL irctc.co.in just click on this link and you will be redirected to the IRCTC website. Inside here, fill in your login details and click on the login button and you shall be take to the interface which resembles more or less like this. So you can see there are like the various options, the user interface is a little difficult to under stand people who are using it first time, so don’t get confused here.

For example you have to book a ticket from Mumbai to Delhi, so click on Mumbai and as you click Mumbai basically you can see this box is arrives, so basically there are two station Mumbai Central and CST, depending upon what you want you can select that station and say this ticket was till Delhi, so you can see inside Delhi also there is so many, select the New Delhi station but people who want to go till Kishanganj or Sarai Rohilla or Safdarjang or Cantonment they can select accordingly. Select on the date which you want, you can see the small calendar icon, which states click to open calendar, when link, you bring the mouse over it or hover it, just click on it and you can see the dates. So using the next month you can schedule next month tickets. Note that IRCTC tickets can not be booked for more than 91 days. So you can not book tickets if today is like 10th March so I can not book ticket of 11th June. you can book a ticket until 10th of June. So you can simply can see the dates so what ever dates. Eg: you want to book a ticket for 4th of May. you can select the ticket type here, e-ticket or i-ticket. So obviously it will be a e-ticket because it’s through internet and quota can be either Tatkal or General. Tatkal tickets you will see in the later tutorial how we do that. It’s only for tickets which are supposed to be booked for the next proceeding day. I mean if you are on the 4th of February you can book a Tatkal ticket for 5th of February. Suppose today is 10th so if I was supposed to use Tatkal, the date will need to be 11th of March because today is 10th of March.

Tatkal service is starts from 10 in the morning and until 11 o’ clock. Earlier Tatkal used to start from 8 in the morning, so that’s changed now. So I want every one to be aware of that. So it is 10 in the morning. And we will be seeing how to book Tatkal tickets and having shortcuts to go to the IRCTC rail server in Tatkal hours. That will be in the upcoming tutorials but as of now it’s a general ticket and click on find trains. So you know many times people are confused as to what all trains are there, what all trains runs between the stations, so this tutorial more or less help understand this.

You have selected Mumbai and Delhi and you know these are the trains which run, Dehradun, Ferozepur Janta, Dehradun, Paschim, Mangla, Mumbai Rajdhani, NZM Garib, August Kranti, Rajdhani. So these are the trains which run from Mumbai to Delhi. Your destination might not be Mumbai to Delhi, your destination might be Mumbai to Bhopal perhaps, so as soon as you click on Bhopal, you see the Bhopal’s various stations codes, inside the brackets are the station codes, if you want to save time while booking tickets, you can directly type BPL and Bhopal Junction should appear there, every station has a station code, you see Mumbai station has code CSTM, Bhopal Junction Station code is BPL, Inside Bhopal there might be very separate stations, Habibganj is another station, it might be having different station code, so the main Bhopal Junction code is BPL, once you do this click on find trains, now the list which appears is specific to the trains which runs from Mumbai to Bhopal, so the list which you see in front of you is of trains which runs from Mumbai to Bhopal. Now it could have been you know not Mumbai, it could have been Punjab here, okay not any station on name of Punjab exists, Jalandhar Perhaps. There you go. So Jalandhar City is there and Jaladhar Cantt. is there cantonment perhaps. So Jalandhar City to Bhopal, lets see if there are any trains which run, so there is certain trains which run. So this is the way you understand, how to find trains which run between a particular stations to another station. So I just wrap this up with the last example, which is from Mumbai to Kolkata, as soon as you click on Mumbai, it found CSTM, but it not run from CSTM, if you know it will run from Mumbai Central. Kolkata, there you go. So it says it is unable to retrieve train list because that route doesn’t have it, the CSTM Route. You  need to check Mumbai Central route and may be now it will come. I think Duronto Runs.

Well some time it may be the problem, unable to retrieve train list, which indicates that there is server pressure on IRCTC New generation Website and that is why it is unable to show out the results. But definitely there are trains which run. I mean so don’t get confused if can’t find the train list; this will come after some time. This is off arrow which is happen and say some one want to go from Mumbai to Jharkhand, If don’t know what is the Jharkhand station code, an easy way of identifying station codes is like just go to Google. And say you find out for Jharkhand Station Code, just type RNC and see whether something happens, that has Ranchi. So that is a good way of doing it in Google and after that you can list out the trains and there you see Ranchi Express runs and will be later seeing how to identify train time tables and which days it runs on. Very simple clue I can give is just clicking on the radio button, and it shows the days which it runs on here. M T W T F S S, so it runs on Saturday, it leaves at 15:50 that is its 3:50 in the after noon and it arrives at 7:25 AM the proceeding day in the morning and the availability is listed out. But all this in the upcoming tutorial other wise this all will be too heavy for all you people.

So that it guys, I believe you have understood every thing. I will just explain the entire thing. Left tab, go to plan my travel, as soon as you click on plan my travel, this thing pops up which is plan my travel, you can mention the station codes here, depending on whatever station codes you mentioned, the list of train will be arrived. So people who want to go from Mumbai to Delhi would be typing the Mumbai Delhi station codes, click on find trains for the particular date, you have the trains listed out, which goes from one destination to other destination and accordingly you can schedule your train trips depending upon the availability which we will be learn in the upcoming tutorials. So I just hope this has helped you people and stay tune for more interesting tutorials. If you face any problem to find train list between the station Please leave a comment in comment box below.
